Do you personally care about the 5-10 minute wait on boat rides or would you prefer they be much shorter or even instant travel? Do you buy VIP rocks to avoid the waits or do you rather enjoy the short waits?
I personally think it's alright to have some of a wait on the ships. 5-10 minutes isn't very long to be honest. I know some people complain about it but if you think about the positives, it allows you to sit and talk for 10 minutes or get up and take a short break from Mapling.
There is a new method of travel coming in future patch which allows players to purchase a 7 or 14 day plane. It acts just like a mount but also allows you to travel on your own without the use mabinogi gold. The times are not any shorter, but it doesn't require you to wait for the ship to arrive. When and if this comes out, would you rather use that method of travel over the ships?
I prefer any method of transportation that doesn't require waiting for the ship to arrive. So I would definitely use this new method rather than the old ships. It doesn't require you to move your character around either. You can enter the flight map and "afk" for about 10 minutes.
